Why not find an appropriate forum and open an Aviation Art thread asking members to post their work in that thread. A temporary solution.

I would like to request a higher posts per page limit, from 40 to something like 80 or 100. That helps a lot when viewing long threads that right now may have dozens of pages. Thanks for the consideration!

I have my options set to 40 posts and I find it a long long scroll on the iPad.

No reports of late, check your filename for illegal characters.

Of course ipad users can't upload.

EDIT - however iPad users can upload attachments form photobucket. See the sticky thread at the top of the forum.

I find some of the organization of this site very confusing. Items like "report bugs" and "suggestions" should be seperate forums where each posted item can be tracked.

By making these part of another forum you creaate two problems:

1) no one can find the right section. I was looking for a "report bug" forum but could not find it, until someone pointed it out to me. In future I probably won't remember how to find it.

2) By adding all bugs into one posting, they and all the comments aare jumbled up into one big mess. You can find a problem and easily see all related comments to it becasue they are interspursed with all of the other bug comments.

This same desing is used in the Abstract section. I am told that the main Abstract forum is to be used only for posting our own pictures. It is not to be used for discussions about abstract art, or abstract techniques. All of the latter discussionsa are to posted into one generic posting called something like Eclectic ??? . Again this posting suffers from the above problems.

The next result of this is that there does not seem to be any forum for the discussion of abstract art and it's techniques. That is real odd for a site who's purpose is to have artistic discussions.

The forum layout is the result of changes made over several years. Discussions about the site, Bug reports etc are in the Site Discussions forum.

The forum and sub forum layout has developed in response to memer requests to separate static reference information from live threads. There is constant demand for new specialist forums and medium specific forums. For example Aviation Art and Marine Art are recent additions.

This is an enormous site and every forum has to have separate guides and moderators.

However, not everyone has a small screen like an iPad, and I am only asking to expand the options, not change the default for others. Is there a more significant reason that this can't be done, such as bandwidth issues?

It's probably the maximum option in vBulletin, the forum software.

Hello,

I am writing today because I have tried to post to the oil paint WIP and "What's on your Easel?" threads but it says I have to post to 2 threads first or something. I'm not the smartest when it comes to forums but I have had my share of experience with them for some time and find WC to be the least user friendly for a noob. Do I need to just stick to arresting people in my day job or can someone explain to me what I am hung up on in regards to posting here so I too can enjoy this lively community?

With seven posts you should be able to upload pictures now. Check the resizing and uploading videos in my signature.

(Warning: some technical mumbo jumbo follows)

I'm fairly new to the site so I'm not sure if this has been discussed (found nothing when searching), or if this is the right place for this suggestion. However, I would like to propose that WC add support for HTTPS. I'm not sure that I need to give reasons for this, but in summary it is a modern, standard way of making the site safer to use with few, if any, drawbacks.

Something to be considered by the owners.

I can't say we have had security problems as such. Our main problems are spambots which seem to break any password question we create. It is a constant battle.

I'm sure you've locked down the site quite well, given the amount of traffic here -- I don't mean to imply anything else. HTTPS would primarily help with security on the users' end, for example when people browse WC on unencrypted wireless networks. While this may not be WC's responsibility, I think it is a nice thing to do for the users, especially when the crowd may not be the most conscious of technical details.
