Thanks Gary...I just noticed the Angelina Jolie portrait in your banner. I just finished doing that same reference image for a lipstick painting video.

Re: Mischievious Boy Portrait -WIP
Very nice start. The boy's sweater absolutely looks like wool knit. What a sweet little boy. This should be a charmer.

Re: Mischievious Boy Portrait -WIP
Here's the reference photo.
Just messing around with the background colors and values. Trying to figure out the palette I want to use to frame the face before I start working on it. I don't really like the colors of the reference.

Oh my gosh, this is the cutest face! Very nice painting of him...great looseness. I really like the chartreuse background color with the burgundy.

Re: Mischievous Boy Portrait -WIP
The depth and contrast you have achieved but still maintained the softness of the young childs face is extremely well done. I really like the use of the cool shadows - wpnderful skin tone

Re: Mischievous Boy Portrait -WIP
It is interesting to see the choices you are making regarding the background colors, etc. This is a subject I'm trying to help my students understand - they so often paint what the see even when it isn't the best choice for the painting! I like what you've done so far, and knowing your other work am looking forward to seeing the finish.
