Madison Bridge..play time

Hey everyone I've been playing a bit I thought I would share with you all. I have hundreds of photo's from all my travels. I love my Canon Rebel xti There just isn't enough time to draw all of them. I printed one off in black and white on 90lb watercolor paper and than applied colored pencil to it in places where I wanted color. I'm really pretty pleased with the results. I always did like coloring books, I guess this is kind of like making my own with my own photo's.

8x10, prismas mostly. Rosemond Bridge in Iowa, from "The Bridges of Madison County". I was thinking of doing a series of them since I live so near them all.

C&C's welcome. Just wanted to share my fun.

I like this, Danna. Looks like an old postcard. Could this be called mixed media?

Re: Madison Bridge..play time

Hi Mary and Elaine thank you for commenting. Mary I'm not sure if it is mixed media, it's really only paper and cp's. I don't plan on entering it in anything so I don't think it matters. I plan on doing a few more it was just so much fun to do. The pencils wouldn't work on glossy print so that's when I tried some drawing paper in my printer. As long as I use my own photo's I can sell them in our local art store which makes this even more fun.

Well off to play some more.

Looks great.

Try some card stock if you want a thicker paper.

This beautiful! Photography (which you've also done a beautiful job of) is a medium, as is colored pencil. The mingling of the two have produced a lovely effect. I've moved this to the mixed media forum for you.

Very nice photograph! I remember as a child how portraits were colored over by the photographer but I can't remember what medium they used, it very light, just tinted sort of.

I like the way you left the sky b&w -- really makes the bridge pop!

Re: Madison Bridge..play time

My mother-in-law worked for a photography company hand coloring the black and white photos. I'm pretty sure they were all portraits. My parents and sister had tinted portraits but I was born a little too late I guess. My baby pictures were black and white, then later full color.
