Use to denote nudity/mature subject matter Another torso

Upload worked this time, from another computer. I think the problem was on my end.

This one went way over 1/2 hour. I need to get one of those kitchen dingers, and just put down the brush when it dings. Force some discipline on myself.

Gavril,
Glad you managed it!
Why are you limiting yorself to 30 mins?
This is very good especially in that time; you have the form down well but it could do with a little more contrast or maybe that is my monitor or the photo?
Good work though!
Trevor

Re: Another torso

Gavril, Trevor has a relevant question there, maybe you could tell us what you are using, and what you want to achieve..

Well, my general intention is to practice figures with a lot of quick sketches. So far I've had mixed luck stopping myself. I do have a couple that went quickly, I'll upload them later. They're oil on paper, with a lot of turp. I don't know if that's the usual for figure sketching.

I guess my intention is just to practice and improve.

I agree about the contrast/depth. I tend to see it when I take a pic of the painting.

Even though I've been running long, my usual tendency is to be so plodding, that these are still quick for me. Back in college I had this great drawing class with short sketches of models, and I loved it and thought it worked great for forcing me to quickly draw a good figure. It's been a while and I feel like I've lost that, and I'm trying to get it back.

Gavin I think it is what works for you; although turpsy drawing seems quite the rule from the artists that I have seen It is better than drawing in pencil etc IMO.
Is there a life drawing session that you can get to in your area that way you would no doubt get quick poses anyway.
I look forward to seeing your oil's
Trevor

Re: Another torso

I agree, I need to find a local life drawing source. Something to work out the rust.

Thanks to both of you for all the input. Appreciated.

If this is your challenge, it looks as though you are going in right direction. When your time is very limited, you are forced to paint (or draw) that which really matters. Getting into a life drawing group is a good suggestion. If you can't do that, put up a large mirror and get out the timer.

Re: Another torso

Never thought of that one! I think there are some groups around, though. I'll have to connect with one.
