Toni - I'll call this one finished...(xposted in Drawing)

Hi all - I typically hang out in the pastel forum, but I have been working on this charcoal/graphite drawing of my daughter, and thought I would post it here for any comments/suggestions before it's under glass. Since taking the photo of the drawing, which I have posted here, I have made a few small touch-ups (darkened her left pupil a touch and added a little more shading to the forehead). I hope to have this framed next week, so any and all c&c are welcome!!!! Let me have your thoughts - thanks for looking!!!

Beautifully done, and very realistic and so well done. Looks done to me.
Great highlights and contrasts in the hair.

Thanks for the comments! WC, her left eye is in total shadow, so what you are seeing is the shadow..maybe I should lighten up the white closest to the shadow(?) so it doesn't appear to elongate her eye--or bring the shadow down a little farther, so it doesn't look like an extension of her eye. I just rechecked the dimension and her left is actually the same size, if not a hair smaller than the right one. Here is the reference photo:

I think if you lighten the shadow area so it isn't as dark as the corner of the eye, it might work and also slightly darken the bottom eye lid near the corner of the eye. This is based on what I can see but as you know, photos and scans can be quite misleading.

WC - I see exactly what you are saying!! Thanks for catching this - I will darken the shadow area, extending it down further--This should fix the appearance of the elongated eye - cool, I'll get busy! Thanks

What a beautiful study, must have been a challenge to sort the heavy shadows but you've managed beautifully. Lovely picture I wouldn't change a thing..

Erm i wouldnt call it finished, it appears lighter in contrast to the actual photo, i would suggest darkening it and making the highlights stand out more
