Panchoy Lane

6x8
Oil/linen panel
Plein air

Here's a little side street in east county, San Diego. Definitely an unexplored area waiting to painted. This area was a lemon grove mecca back in the day, hence the name of the town is Lemon Grove. Some areas still have that farm community vibe with old shops and the railroad running through. Been doing little 6x8's and 8x10's lately and plan to use them for some larger studio pieces. I love doing these small ones. 30 to 60 minutes and that's it, just enough time to work from the gut and not get so caught up in details. C & C.

Happy new year everyone!

Nice palette! Your loose, lost and found lines work well and there's good depth and perspective. I'm having trouble with the pole that slices through the sky. What would happen if it didn't go off the page?

Hi, thanks for the comment! Yeah I thought the same thing and tried it as per you suggestion. In the end (to me) it did look better going off the edge. Maybe in the studio piece it will be a different story. Thanks again....

I think it helps to see the second pole, whole.

Yeah, you're right about that. The first pole looked unnaturally short if it didn't go off the top, losing a lot of height.
Thanks William

Re: Panchoy Lane

I like the pole projecting beyond the top edge because it helps give the scene an intimate feel, a vignette quality which was your purpose in addition to using those colors together. BillF

This is so nice! I love the colors and the light airy feel. You sure got a lot of mood down in a very short time.

Wonderful painting. Refreshing to see some leaves on some trees. You covered up all the burnt landscape masterfully
