Fish For Supper

MY IMAGE(S):

GENERAL INFORMATION:
Title: Fish For Supper
Year Created: 2007
Medium: Oil
Surface: Canvas
Dimension: 20x16
Allow digital alterations?: Yes!

MY COMMENTS:
Fish For Supper
A pastural landscape painting, taking you back in time to a slower, simpler way of life. Farm, fields and cows in the background. Young boy and his puppy going home in foreground. Painted in oil on canvas.

MY QUESTIONS FOR THE GROUP:
This follows the same style as my last few paintings. Unfortunately they take about a month to research and complete. Comments?

Re: Fish For Supper

This is a beautifully observed "primitive" (in the good sense of the word) painting. I almost hesitate to say anything critical about it but the only thing I am not sure about is the dead tree on the right - it seems to drag your eye to it rather than be drawn into the picture - otherwise for me it's fabulous.

Best wishes and happy painting

Walter

I become jelouse when see it...How wonderful. Technically I can paint well, not gelouse about ability, but about the fact you do this! Jelouse about the beauty and simplicity, I just want to be there right now, even as the dog...(but not as the fish).
Very charming!

Re: Fish For Supper

I really enjoy the work, it is reminisient of Thomas Hrt Benton. The top of the dead tree does pull the viewer off the canvas maybe by cutting it short and let it lead into the clouds would complete a circle that brings the viewer back to the boy. Very pleasing to the eye. Nice work.

Now I want to go fishing. this is beautiful kinda like Huck Finn. I have a great desire to move to Alabama. Your work is always beautiful too look at but I really enjoy your use of shadow especially on the roadside............John

The clouds vs. tree forms are fantastic. I can't get away from the way they reflect each other. Another wonderfully full landscape of realism and fantasy.

Is the tree a Joshua? Went back to view your other paintings – your style is marvelous!

Actually, Huck would probably have stolen the fish and dog, and after eating the fish, sold the dog for some cigars.

Thanks again for another look at your vision of the countryside. Those daisies (are they daisies?) make the painting for me.

Re: Fish For Supper

Your right about that Bill, Maybe I should say Tom Sawyer. But I guess he hung out with Huck to much so that may have not made a diffrence. Anyways Injun Joe and river rafting should be in the next painting..............john

Re: Fish For Supper

Wow. It reminds me of the regional artists of the 1930's America, although you have much more detail in the painting, lots of things in it. I think you have done a wonderful job on this. It's got a smooth quality to the objects in the painting. I like it and you did good on working the paint smoothly on the canvas.

Every once in a great while, a piece on WC makes me gasp as it downloads. This is one of them.
Take whatever time you need for research if this is what it produces. Bravo in all aspects.
