Re: ***Daily Wash*** Sunday 23rd December
And good evening from Down Under!! am almost asleep after a wonderful day by the beach. Had a family bbq - great food, great company and the weather was sunny and very warm.
Didn't want much for dinner tonight (supper) but did have a big bowl of raspberries fresh from the garden, and cream
Night night all

Re: ***Daily Wash*** Sunday 23rd December
Good Morning all,
It is quarter to five in the a.m. with rain pouring down outside tapping on my window panes. A cold front is moving in today but not enough to turn the wet stuff to fluffy white stuff.
I'll be busy getting things ready for the dinner tonight, setting the table, etc.
As soon as I finish typing this, I'm heading out to start my Imam Bayildi (the baby eggplants dish). Like a lot of Turkish veggie dishes, this tastes best served at room temperature so I can get it done this morning instead of last minute.
Jaytee,
I love those bird photos. It looks as if you are standing just a couple of inches away from them. Do you have squirrels around your home? When we put our bird feeder out, the nasty gray squirrels would hop on it from above and knock the lid askew and gobble the seeds. We just stopped putting it out and I miss seeing the different birdies.
Lulu,
Glad you didn't have any damage from the earthquake. Sounds like it was a fairly big one. My Dad had raspberry bushes all across the back of their property so I grew up enjoying fresh raspberries and raspberry jam and jelly. Now, I see them at the store and it costs $2.50 for 4 oz.
Morning, Geoff. We'll be off to the store to get our paper and fresh veggies and fruits a little later this morning too.
to all who are on their way.
SYL,
Sylvia

Morning all
C-c-cold but bright here the sun is a golden glow in the south east.
Wonderful photos Janet, you really do take some great close-ups.
I love Christmas Sunday mornings with their carols and readings and a special treat later this morning - the guest on Desert Island Disks is the talented and funny Victoria Wood
Managed to wrap all the presents yesterday, will be baking tomorrow, followed by a meal out with the neighbours. On Christmas day after a morning at David's we will be welcoming our old neighbours, their children and grand children here - a long tradition.
Have a great day.
Doug

Morning,
up in the early hours with the sinus congestion--miserable. Shim snoring.
PB, here's a website for squirrel-less bird feeders--there are tons of them--this time in our lives we ought to be able to watch the birds, for pete's sake.
Almost time for Santy--I'm excited. Want to thank all of you who sent me yur lovely painted Christmas cards--I'm enjoying them--thank you.

Fookie,
I've seen the Canon commercials with a Shimmie look-alike. It is so darn cute. Does Shimmie speak with an accent when he talks to you?????
Doug,
Sounds like a nice day and upcoming Christmas celebration planned.
The eggplants are in the oven cooking and the wind is HOWLING outside our windows. Glad we aren't out in it, it's snug and warm inside.
SYL,
Sylvia

Re: ***Daily Wash*** Sunday 23rd December
Well the shopping was done in under an hour.there and back....whilst there were long queues to get in the car park at tesco half an hour before opening I got straight into Sainsburys at other end of town, bought the wine and papers, and was out in 15 minutes...apparently one shop ran out of turkeys yesterday another out of milk, potatos and bread and it is still two days to Christmas!
Lovely day here until 10 minutes ago.now freezing fog at ground level and we can still see the sun at 93 million miles plus.....odd isn't it!

Re: ***Daily Wash*** Sunday 23rd December
Windy (gusts up to 40 mph) and heavy rain here this morning and all through the night! In the 60s yesterday, dropping all day to a low of 28 tonight.
Gifts all bagged or wrapped. DH Ed will pick up ham and side dishes today and tomorrow, all ready to pop into the oven. The immediate family is coming over for dinner (at lunch time) on Christmas Day and my closest friend (widow) is spending Christmas Eve with us to enjoy supper and help me prepare a couple of specialities for the Christmas Dinner. We've done that together now for about four years. She spends Christmas Day with another family that has also "adopted" her.
If I don't pop in again, hope everyone has a peaceful week and all who celebrate the holidays enjoy them.
HAWLTAIN
May your today prepare you for your tomorrow.

Re: ***Daily Wash*** Sunday 23rd December
Good Morning All,
47 F here at present. Raining and wind at 28 MPH. Will cool and snow later. Nice day, hey? I don't care. I'm cozy. Quite a contrast from Lulu's weather. Wish I could BBQ.
Nice photos, Janet. Bedautiful birds. Now, why wern't some of those birds brought across the pond instead of just sparrows and starlings?
Geoff, you get your paper in Darrowby every day? Wish I could see the town that Harriot made famous. Send us all some pictures.
Well, I'm off for another cookie and coffee.

Re: ***Daily Wash*** Sunday 23rd December
Good Morning Everyone!!! Too dark to evaluate the weather but I think I heard raindrops against the window.
Last night's family dinner at younger son's place was really wonderful, turkey, ham and all the trimmings and all done expertly.
Today's brunch is being held at Jodi's. I am looking forward to all of us getting together.
I need to do laundrey, will try and get that done before the brunch.
Love your photos JT!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am with Sylvia where the squirrels are concerned, I don't want them in my garden digging up stuff but am not mean enough to put a feeder out to tantalize them, so mother nature will have to look after squirrels and birds
I just looked out the window and it's pouring.
to one and ALL and wishing you a good day and always HAWLTAIN!!!

Re: ***Daily Wash*** Sunday 23rd December
Good Morning!!! Why am I shouting, you ask??? Well... so you can hear me above the howl and roar of the WIND!!!!!
Sheesh... it's pouring down rain... windy, and just plain nasty... and we're going to get our final groceries for the Christmas season, this morning... arrrggghhh....
I tried to pop in yesterday, but life continuously interferred... everything from unexpected visitors to laundry... but, hey... that's what life is about anyway...
We attended a gathering at my Mother's home last night... she opened her house for all her neighbours... family just happened to show up... It was a LOT of fun... she had some really delicious finger foods and I ate too much (there's a surprise)...
Oh... I have to tell you... for our Boxing Day Open House, we'll be setting up a fondue pot!!! OHYMYGAWD... it's been over 30 years since I did one of those! Matt is excited about it and it'll be his job to monitor it...
I thought I'd have time to draw out my Katie portrait, but I didn't... mayber later this afternoon... who knows these things??
So...
Good morning to Janet... I love your cheerful birdie photos...
...and Lulu... I'm a little envious of your day at the beach...
Hi Geoff!
We have your weather, too, Sylvia... our snow is pretty much gone... the weatherman says that we might get a skiff to whiten our Christmas Day... Your dinner plans sound just wonderful...
That sounds like such a nice tradition, Doug!!!
...g'morning Fookie... poor Matt suffers from sinusitis... gives him some really nasty headaches...
Hi Lyn... aren't gift bags just the niftiest things?? Your dinner sounds nice, too! Merry Christmas to you my friend...
Good morning Bill!
Hi Uschi... You'll gain weight! All that good eating... (just kidding)... The one thing you can be grateful about the rain... you won't have to shovel it!
Ok... Ted's had his breakfast, done his meds and is (honestly) washing up the dishes... so... I think I'd better get a wiggle on this bigg butt...
Love and hugs to all...

Now THAT's the right kind of attitude to have instead of complaining about the weather.

Re: ***Daily Wash*** Sunday 23rd December
Good Morning Washers !!
It is raining here in the Grove as well! Fortunately, we have enough snow that it should remain white for Christmas... A light dusting Christmas Eve would be wonderful.
Dan will head down to Toronto later this morning, to pick up his Mom who will be spending Christmas with us this year. ..... I am fininished my shopping but still need to do the wrapping today.
Sylvia, have you tried using a "squirrel baffle" ? You can place them above the feeder if you use a hanging feeder or below it if you use a pole type feeder. We have several feeders of both types and they work really well..
The birds scatter enough seed onto the ground, which does allow the squrrels to get some meals .
Uschi, enjoy your brunch today.
Jaytee, love your bird photos.
Char, sounds like you are moving around well !!!!! Be careful today as there will be some icy spots.
Lulu, I am at your day at the beach.
to Lyn, Bill, Geoff, Fookie, Doug and all those yet to arrive.
Cheers,
Gail
