X-post-Danis-Xmas-Elf

This my Christmas elf of the year.
I paint one every year.

This one I is done in water colour on hot pressed paper.
I will upload the finished elf in a few days.
I am not sure if I am going to do a background because the traditional Danish Christmas Elves are used as cut out decoration to hang on the kitchen cupboard.

I did not finish her hair jet, I know it looks flat
I don't have a photo to work from just my imagination!
Any help on shadows are welcome!

Hi! Ranunkel, she is endearing, I'll be back to see her charming self as you finish her painting. Thanks for sharing the tradition and custom of your elf. Regards, Marianne

This is amazing! I love her! Do you have pics of the others you have done?

As far as shadows go just make sure they are soft and the angle and intensity is consistant with the rest of her. I'm sure you know that already.

She is Wonderful !!
I know what you mean about the Christmas Cut -Out Elves .I bought 2 sets in Copenhagen about 25 years ago and have always put them on the Window sills . I did not know they belonged in the Kitchen !I have also several Gnomes that have Real hair for beards and they alao come out at Christmas . They are so Charming , I love them so much. They are the last to go back in the Box They are also different from our usual Ornaments.

Re: X-post-Danis-Xmas-Elf

Hi all

Thanks for your kind words!
I painted my elf's dress to day, but I didn't get a photo, it's to dark now, and she is to large to go into my scanner. I will update you tomorrow.
You can read more about the Danish Christmas Elf at:
http://www.trollshop.net/trolls/nissen/

This is an Elf I did in 2004 in mixed media. I did her for our fridge. She was also done as a paper doll for a Christmas calendar. This elf was done in water soluble colour pencils, water colour and her outfits are done as collage.
