OK, just 3?! Well, I guess that'd have to be Dali, William Wagman (photographers count right?), and Picasso, no particular order. I like alot more of them, but those were the first three that popped into my head.

Can I cheat? I can cheat.
Modigliani and Picasso are 1 and 2, or 2 and 1, depending.
3 is a dead heat between Juan Gris, Braque, Egon Schiele, and Max Beckmann.
Actually, Schiele probably just wins by a nose

OK, here's my list of deceased masters:

Degas ~ for distinguishing the modern crop

Picasso ~ for making African art accessible

Basquiat ~ for bringing hip-hop to modern art

And since there's not an overwhelming representation of diversity in this area, I'd like to acknowledge 3 highly accomplished (though scarcely known) contemporary masters:

John Outterbridge ~ Sculptor, unparalleled!

Robin Strayhorn ~ Public installations, impeccable!

Thomas Blackshear ~ Illustrative art, ground-breaking!

For me Rembrand is my most favorite artist followed by John William Waterhouse and Barend Cornelis Koekoek.

1) Miro

3) Barnett Newman

It chages...the German expressionist wood cuts of the 30's and Canadian group of seven are also biggies on my list.

I'm new here...

so I thought I'd put in my two cents. Maybe some other newbies will post, too.

Richard Diebenkorn

Eric Fischel

and an honorable mention to three more:

Hi Pantone,
I noticed that not a lot of women were mentioned among the favorites, so I looked Susan up on the web.
I wasn't familiar with her work but I found this painting to be very intriguing. The subject matter is a pleasant surprise and it feels quite intimate.

Thanks for sharing her.
What is it about Susan's work that speaks to you?
