Dirty Beauty Show

Hi All,
Just wanted to mention that I had the very cool opportunity to drive over to Monrovia, CA and see Bill Wrays one man show, Dirty Beauty. Totally worth the trip and I highly recommend it to anyone who can get there, it runs till October 20th.
A few things worth mentioning.....
There were lots of large Wray paintings. Seeing these larger pieces was jaw dropping. Plenty of smaller works and with the finished sheen on them that you cannot see here online it was impressive.

Several pieces were sold by the end of the night...so if you need a loan see Bill....he's loaded!

Also, seeing these paintings in the awesome frames Bill had them in is totally cool. One of his trucks was in a frame that you'd have to give your first-born for. Very cool framing.

This is a fantastic gallery, awesome lighting and a very pretty owner.

And....I was there which meant I was able to buy Bill's new book, "Dirty Beauty" and have him sign it and time how long it took him to draw a palm tree in it....in two, not one, two colors! If you have not bought this book yet then you are missing out! Buy one now.....

It was a great show, plenty of people showed up, good food, drinks, Bill was a great host and awesome work hanging there!

Here are some pics....
Bill looking at me knowing he's sold another book!

My girlfriend Linda with one of Bills excavators...

Two really good ones...remember the San Francisco/Stockton/Sacramento trip on the left?

Linda by the Rework..the LARGE rework!...

I believe Bill will be posting more shots on his Blog so check it out....
Ron

Re: Dirty Beauty Show

I was fortunate to see some of Bill's work a couple of years ago in Los Angeles and "jaw dropping" pretty well says it all. Blue Wall still haunts me....

Re: Dirty Beauty Show

great stuff...wish I could see the show. Bill does seem like he'd be a hoot to hang around with too!

I have his book, and had a great laugh with what he wrote in the cover for me!!

It is a very nice visually looking book, great works of Bills...

Good for you Ron to get a chance to take it in...

Larry

Re: Dirty Beauty Show

What? no truck with hugh large frame??? I got to tell you Bill, I really dig the varnished look of your pieces when they are framed. They have a flat look here online but in person they have that bit of sparkle. I'm now thinking of varnishing a few of mine as soon as they are dry to check that look out here.
Very cool work. "Crane" should have been mine! Hahaha.

I'd give it to you if I hadn't sold it.

Re: Dirty Beauty Show

Looky what just showed up on my doorstep...

Wasn't expecting it to get here so soon.

It's a nice one Bill, pretty cool to see it up close. Goes nicely with my own amateurish Golden Gate bridge.
