I see your question has reactivated the long thread on the RIL uploader not working. Personally, I have given up seeing it ever a working feature here again.

In June it will be a year and no news on a fix date in sight. So sorry to see it gone (and likely for good, as no word from Mr Swift since last November 2008). It seems that other members must have also given up....as this thread never stays active.....you can only hit your head on the brick wall for so long.

I can only hope someone will start a site that has a working RIL with uploader for copyright free photos we can all use for inspiration. I keep hoping and looking.....has anyone found one?

DeviantArt often have stock libraries for use; some with terms, others free of restriction.

The RIL is available to use any of the thousands of photographs already there, it is the uploader which is broken.

Yes, I agree with you regarding the thousands of photos available in the RIL for inspiration and urge everyone to check them out. Similar to members missing their "chat".....I do miss viewing the new uploads, the comments and the ongoing connection with the world through the eyes of very talented photographers....including yourself. Thank you to everyone for the images you previously shared which we are still able to access. Also, to be honest, searching the RIL is frustrating for me when it stalls, hangs up etc and doesn't work as seemlessly as it once did prior to the F&W buyout.

Placing the broken RIL aside, being a basically positve person, I am choosing to move on past the RIL issues which I do not see being fixed. I would encourage everyone to enjoy the other good things on this site including these varied forums.

I love the gallerias, especially the watercolor....and there appears to be something for almost every artist's medium. The constant new uploads showing talented members work and their techniques are wonderful. I love the encouragement given to others and enjoy seeing the work, their process, the lessons....all the sharing on this part of the WC site. WC is a unique site with much to offer artists everywhere. Diane

No, things seem to be OK except for the uploader. I presume you are going via Content Areas/Reference Image Library at the top of the screen?

Would it be possible to install some other software and transfer all the current reference images to it?

Or, if you could give us the name of the ftp server, could we use our usernames and passwords to upload directly? At least then some new images would be added...

Just wondering because I find it such a useful resource and would hate to see it die out.

In watercolors we have a members Photo Collections thread, but of course it isn't publicised amongst the members at large.

Lorene, in the absence of an Uploader to the RIL proper, you may open a thread in this forum if you have photos you wish to share generally.
I'm afraid that's all we have to offer at this time!

You will see that a couple of other members have done that already.

I noticed this also a few weeks ago. I didn't report it as I figured it was all part of the ongoing RIL uploading problems...... anyway, I can not comment on any photos, or reply to coments made under my own photos. Someone asked quite a while ago if they could paint one of my photos and I wanted to reply with "yes" but couldn't.
