Marlfield Lake - FINISHED

This will be a painting (all going well I hope)
of Marlfield Lake which is just a couple of miles from where I live.
It is on La Carte 16 x 12 and using mostly Sennellier, Unison and Schmincke.
C/C very welcome

Re: Marlfield Lake WIP

Hi Mary,
This is going to be a beauty!!
There are already so many different and interesting trees here and you've only just started! Love the grayish sky. Was it just raining or overcast?
I like the La Carte paper...its tooth is different from Wallis and I find the Senneliers work wonderfully on this paper.
I'll be back to see more!
Cindy

Re: Marlfield Lake WIP

Hi Cindy,
thanks for the nice comment. I am not sure how it is going to turn out. I am struggling with it in my head.
Now that I see it on the screen I think the tree in the middle is a bit too light.
I might put more blue in the sky Cindy as I move along as I would like strong blue in the water when i get to it!!!!!!!
Cindy I like the La Carte... but I have done one on Wallis and it has spoiled me. It takes way more Pastel and it is easier to do corrections on it
Thanks for looking
Mary Brigid

Re: Marlfield Lake WIP

Mary, so far the trees are stunning, very crisp and detailed without being fussy..
I don't think the middle tree is too light, but you might take out the trunk and place it behind the foliage line to put it more in the distance from the others..this is going very well so far,
Tres

Re: Marlfield Lake WIP

Mrking : Thank you for looking. Will work on it again in the morning.

Tressa: Thank you. Will hide the light tree trunk. it just might solve the problem. I have a lot more green to do and we will see how it looks later.

Dorte: Thank you for the nice comments. Nice to see you back here again.

Dark_Shades: So glad you like it so far. I am fairly pleased with it. But I always get an attack of nerves half way through a painting. And then I seem to botch things. I am keeping my fingers crossed for this one.

Thank you Violet... I am actually struggling with this

Ok Paula here is More. Not a lot more I am afraid.
The yellow on the water is an algae that forms on the lake each year... will tone it down a tad..... Just working on the water now... I always work from left to right as I smudge !!!!!!!

The water and the reflections you have put in are fantastic! Can't wait to see more.

Oh Mary..is coming along beautifully, and putting that little tree behind the other foliage just made it fit right in..the water is delicious!

Re: Marlfield Lake WIP

What a treat to sit in on this WIP. I just am amazed at how you can control the painting with such precision working it area by area. I am all over the place when I work. (smudge/fix, smudge/fix...). I'm sitting in on this one!

Carol!

PS I can't wait to see what you can do with your new set of PanPastels! But I will wait, because I want to see this one finished first!!!
