Trees with Cuatro: Step x Step

16 x 20 canvas. I was asked by some members if I could show the WIP of the thread on TREES so I did a new one and documented the process.

First I started with the canvas upside down and painted in blacks and motion. Then covered the rest of the canvas in t-white.

Next I added in grays............

Next came the BG skies in C-Blue & crimson

With a 2" brush ( dry ) I blended the BG in...........

Next I did the underpainting for the mountains, hills, in grays

Now to get the tree effect I turned the canvas upside down and sprayed with water on the top half ( the bottom ) until it ran down the canvas and knifed in limbs while the canvas and paint are still wet............................

After 3 or 4 hours of drying I started adding foilage and darkened trees...

Next came the boulders, rocks and water along with some highlights....

Finally I tweaked the trees and added my signature instrument the cuatro to give it some eye candy. Signed it and called it finished. Thanx for looking hope you all enjoyed the step x step process.......................tj

Lillian: Glad you like the technique, it's a lot of fun actually to see this develope in stages like this. Thanx...............tj

Hey Doc.....Thanx as always. I just did an exhibition saturday 9/1 and gave a class to kids. I loved the experience and just want to share with anyone that's interested and inquisitive. Kids are like that naturally and I really bonded with them that day. It was good for my artists' soul.......tj

Lavenderfrost: Everytime I see your name I imagine me painting some lavenderfrost on one of my paintings.........it's so graphic! Cool! Thanx..tj

Re: Trees with Cuatro: Step x Step

Glad my name is inspiring. I came up with it a long time ago and I was going to be a writer and use it as a pseudonym. Hmm, maybe that's how I should sign my paintings, lol.

Well, now I'll be waiting to see that lavender frost painting.
