Re: ViewMaster

Very cool, Robert, thanks for sharing! Now, help me out... what are we seeing on the top and bottom? Is that part of the mural? I'm having trouble understanding what I'm seeing, particularly on the bottom, that blue-white horizontal streak...?

Did you do this with airbrush? I particularly like the asteroids in/on the belt, very luminous!

Michele

Re: ViewMaster

the white is the outer edge of the canvas - was hung across a porch to get the whole of it [indoor wall photos came out terrible]... except for the black of space, the rocks and figure was first done in blue, then the colors glazed over... always wanted to see a painting of being in among the rings, but no one ever did one - so did one myself [that's "me" in the spacesuit on the platform lower left doing a computer rendering of the scene ].....

everything was imagined, with the idea of feeling like was really 'out' there.....

Re: ViewMaster

Oh yes - used small brushes - never tried airbrushing since most my work is so broken up no need for slick grading, and even skies are more mixed with gesso and worked down that way [since acrylics not allow me the luxury of doing Parrish's style quite as he did his skies]...

At the moment, tho, am doing pen/ink and color pencil, so no idea when able to do another 'picture window' work..... love the doing, but seem hard to sell [tho, for sure, are impressive to look at].... and yes, are always on canvas - had done a few right on the walls, and they no longer exist... at least with canvas, can be taken down if wished and transfered to new place...... [and, added benefit - can be rolled for transportation ]

Re: ViewMaster

Too cool! I thought for sure that it was an airbrush work.

Re: ViewMaster

When saw it mounted and hung on a living room wall, it really 'made' the room, and yes, looked like ye were seeing a view from some spaceship [which, of course, was the idea ]
