Daisies
Hi all, just found the forum today! Great to have a florals/plants forum! It looks like a busy place already.
This is a cross-post from the Acrylics forum, I just finished it (good timing!), it was my first large (by my standards) canvas. It's 16X20", Golden Fluid acrylics. Up until now I usually painted at 5X7" so this was a huge increase in size for me.

Re: Daisies
Hi polygon, welcome to the forum
Lovely painting. I like the looseness of the background and the detail of the daisies.

Re: Daisies
The light in this is fantastic! Did you do glazes?

Re: Daisies
Laura, the sky was laid in directly in a ultramarine/cerulian/titanium mix blended with a bit of white, so no glazing there, but fluids always let some light through. The grass is in layers but it was undiluted paint so just a bit of glazing effect there, but when I did the sky I left a white hole at the bottom for the grass and that's lighting it up. The last layer of petal shadows was a glaze, that helped me get away with tinkering too much to reach the effect I wanted (or thereabouts!)
Oh, also, I did the flower silhouette first in titanium white, that provides light. So yes, glazing, but it's all over white!
Celeste, I looooove 16X20! I did a background last night for another one (not sure if I like it yet, it may not survive) and it is soooooo much fun swish-swishing the brush! Not much swish-swish ever happens at 5X7, and I love having "elbow room" to work on detail, plus any false move is so much easier ignored in a large size- at 5X7 one false stroke sometimes and that's the end of it.
On the other hand, paint is landing places in the room it's never been before...

Hi Polygon welcome to this forum. This is such a bright, happy painting. The daisies are just lovely. How do you like the larger canvas?

Re: Daisies
I love "the swaying in the wind" feel you have to the Daisies, and the great background.
