Use to denote nudity/mature subject matter some recent life drawings

Hi, all! I have been admiring all your great life drawings and reading all the kind comments made by you. It felt like my kind of place! This is my first time starting a thread... thought you might like to see some of my obsessions. This is my favourite model (and Friend).
15mins Canson/pastel 50cmx30cm

90mins colourfix/pastel 70cmx50cm

Thanks everyone.

Re: some recent life drawings

Welcome to the forum. The last piece in this post is the one that works best for me - a lovely contemplative look and a good sense of volume and form. The belly button looks too high, though. My suggestion would be to work without colour for a while - it just complicates things and it's a lot easier to work tonally when there isn't colour thrown into the mix. It also frees up more time for the drawing itself as you're not having to constantly change the tool in your hand.

Re: some recent life drawings

Bethany, I think that working in colour rather than drawing adds an extra dimension of difficulty, so you have done well with these and obviously know what you are doing!
You've established a lot in the 15 minute ones, and used the time in the longer one to build up some more form and detail... nice work.

Mac

You have some good things going on there how expressive do you want to be you seem to be on the edge of expression and accuracy?

Hi Bethany.........15 minutes.. ....amazing..

I really like the last one particularly.... how you've used the cool colour on her buttock to send it back, and how the warm colours bring her hands and knee forward. I think that her right hand comes a little too far forward though......maybe put some of those warms into her knee as well.
You have a lovely confident looseness.... I think you have been drawing/painting quite a while? I love that loosenes.... I ache to have it in my own work... ...eg. the few well-placed marks which make up the foot which is against her calf.

Trevor: thanks for the kind comments- my friend was a model, but had not done life-modelling, when I first met her. We became friends over the time of painting her portrait, for her husband. She models for two drawing groups, now.
Anne: thanks to you as well. I have worked in black/white for a long time, and do so now for the warm-up 2mins. Now I am addicted to colour and want to challenge myself with the play of light across the model.
Mac: you're right- the colour is a challenge- but that's the whole point, to do the hardest thing. When it pays off, it's the best feeling.
Bill: I want to do both! I work quickly to establish accuracy, but I also want to express the mood of the pose, the warm and cool light. I have varying success, but I always challenge myself.
Pauline: high praise indeed from you! I have seen your work and you achieve lovely results in a short time. I admire that you post your drawings even when you are not 100% happy with them!

Lovely work Bethany, you got a lot down in such a short time, colorwise. On your long pose, the colored part of the hair and the toes of the hidden foot work wonderfully with the way you handled the pastels in the body. I really like those parts especially.
Thanks for sharing yor work
best wishes
david
