Daffs and Camellias

I am enjoying browsing this forum and seeing all the florals in one place. Makes it nice.

This first painting was done toward the end of July for a SWAP exchange of watercolor paintings. I was concerned whether the recipient was ever going to receive it but it arrived yesterday, safe and sound.

Daffodils
10" x 7"
Watercolor on Paper
Reference Photo: HollyLL from the RIL

This painting was done yesterday (08-10-07) as a possible replacement for the SWAP painting, in case it was lost in the mail. Had fun with this one because it was challenging.

Camellias
10" x 8"
Watercolor on Paper
Reference Photo: SweetBabyJ, RIL

C & C appreciated. Thanks,

Hey Ann! You're here!
It's nice to see work of another medium too - these are super!
Love the freshness of the daffs and loose bk/gd.

The colours of the camellias are eye-catching and so clean!

Nice, both

Ann, I love both of these paintings so much. The strong colour in the Daffs is great, and the Camellias are totally beautiful.

Re: Daffs and Camellias

Nice compositions on both of these. I don't paint in watercolor but I would think that glass would be difficult, and you have made it all look easy. Beautiful work.

Re: Daffs and Camellias

Hi Val and Deb, thank you both very much. Deb, the composition was nicely set up in the reference photos so no work for me.

Re: Daffs and Camellias

Ann, it is nice to see another media that you work in. These are much looser than your acrylics. Excellent use of colour and balance.

Re: Daffs and Camellias

Hi Ann
Lovely comp in both works. I love the the loose feel of these and the colours are spot on! Only critique would be next time to add a touch of the bloom's colour into the 'grey' shadow areas to unite the whole. Other than that they work great.
