Austin to Dallas
Well, it's a Texas landscape, so I guess it fits? (Cross-posted from Landscapes) Reference is a shot I took on I35 on the way back from Austin Sunday. Typical countryside in central Texas. This is a tad darker than the original. As always, C&C welcome.

I think I recognize this spot.  With the traffic on that stretch, sometimes you have time for a painting, just waiting bumper to bumper. Beautiful painting. Looks like a redish under painting?

I drove that stretch of highway for 6 years every work day so I know how beautiful it is there. You did a great job on the piece.

Ralph... Of course it fits here... What a beauty! I was surprised to see that it's a gouche. I would have sworn it was an oil. You have a wonderful touch. I look forward to seeing more of your work...
The wonderful thing about a forum that deals with subject matter rather than medium is we all get a chance to see much more variety in how to tackle a subject. Gouche, for example...

Hi Jo. I took the photo through the windshield at around 70mph (wife was driving), but I think this was somewhere around Waco. Actually, the only underpainting on this was a very dark rough-in of the two trees. Thanks for the comments! |

Hello, Diane. Thank you! Some of the oil painters think I'm nuts, but yes, gouache is my medium. Only been at it this painting busines for about six months, so I'm still on a beginner's learning curve. Glad to be here. |
