Comp #121 - Shadow - VOTE HERE!
Work once again makes me late getting this up ...
This week's topic was:
Shadows
Not the object, but the shadow of something or someone, in whole or in part, that tells a story on its own.
Before placing your vote, consider the following criteria:
1. Is it on topic?
2. Technically excellent ... all the usual: in focus, DOF, well sharpened, composition, artistic merit ...
3. That WOW! factor
We have 4 entries this week:
1. Shadow of David
2. Storm Shadow
3. Shadow Rider
4. Shadow Thief
That's it, Folks! Thank you to all who took the challenge! Hopefully we'll get lots of critiques this week. With only four entries, that should be easy
This will be a public vote.
Good luck, Everyone!!!
Cheers,
Sue

Re: Comp #121 - Shadow - VOTE HERE!
1) i thought i good made the shadow a little bigger but over all a really good picture
2)i think this was really good one as well the storm shadows was a little to far away, and the tree and the grassy noles is what i see the most
3)i thought was good because the shadow was up close and had little details of the bike and the personon it.
4)love the way the hands shadow was moving over the apples.
good job every one. and good luck.
this is a really hard decision.

Re: Comp #121 - Shadow - VOTE HERE!
I thought this was a cool topic and expected lots of entries. As I got into it I found it really hard. Looks like everyone else did too.
I'm glad four of us posted something. BUT . . . . (and this is the first time this has ever happened) none of these grab me. I see no POP, no WOW.
I guess none of us are up to the level we needed to be for this comp. So It is time to try harder, spend more time working on the comp and more thinking outside of the box.
Sue, keep pushing us! We need it!

Re: Comp #121 - Shadow - VOTE HERE!
I haven't been checking on the comps lately, so I missed this one as I have a lot of shadow pics I could have used. I even have one that looks a lot like #3.
I really like #2 overall, but the shadow isn't all that clear. #1 is probably the most on topic and creative of all of them.

Re: Comp #121 - Shadow - VOTE HERE!
I think #4 is the one on topic, the one that has the shadow but not the object making it and tells a story.
Well done!
Tough topic Sue!

Re: Comp #121 - Shadow - VOTE HERE!
...and the results for this week’s comp are:
FIRST PLACE:
4. Shadow Thief – moccasin (Sue) 10 VOTES
SECOND PLACE:
2. Storm Shadow – Windbreaker (Chuck) 7 VOTES
THIRD PLACE:
1. Shadow of David - ValorieCox (Val) 6 VOTES
AND THE ONE I VOTED FOR:
3. Shadow Rider - mlgkats (Melynda) 3 VOTES
Congrats to Chuck and Val!!! YAY! Thanks to all who voted for my apple scoundrel
Thanks to all who entered, voted and took the time to provide crits. All valuable stuff! I thought there would be more entries for this one – really figgered it would be an easier topic than some of the others I have had you all chasing after
On to the next ... http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/showthread.php?t=435724
Cheers,
Sue

Re: Comp #121 - Shadow - VOTE HERE!
This one was a lot harder than it sounded, good task Sue and to everyone who entered, well done.
I guess it is just kind of hard to get pop out of shadows. I think I will keep trying on this.
