Sunrise Sunset

I know its been a while since I posted in the gallery,
I have been getting settled in a new eating plan, following
a diet focused on whole foods and better sources of protein,
It takes time to reroute your eating patterns, I think its a full time job!

I painted off and on this week and I dont know why I like this,
maybe because its natural and organic,
what do y'all think?

Re: Sunrise Sunset

It does seem very natural--wonderful, soothing colors; know what you mean about getting back to posting after an absence...life sure can get in the way of painting/posting, huh.

Re: Sunrise Sunset

Very serene and meditative. Probably theraputically good to look at while adjusting to a new eating plan .
I would really like to know what media you included with your watercolor and how you did this, becauase you have such good texture here....

Yes I think your are right hp it was theraputic, I started this diet because i needed to eat right for my stomach, but then i fouind one that would also work for many areas, so it brings a senmse of peace to know your making concious decisions for better health. I did a red wash with watercolor on this one then blotted most of it out to the horizon line and added blues, I painted the sun in an orangy brash color and didnt like it so I painted over with Guache, and then picked a better color think it was scarlet red, I let it try then did a wash of cad orange.
the reeds in the water were created by brustrokes using clear acrylic gesso, and the blues are washes of indigo, lots of washing off when the effect I wanted wasnt right, hope that helps, thanks again hp

Gesso! now that is a product I havn't investigated, but I understand a lot or artist use it for all kinds of stuff. It really made for the perfect texture here.
Thank you for taking the time to explain, it is so nice to be introduced to ideas we may want to give a try sometime.

The texture of your many layers is great. Soft and soothing...it must be reflecting your lifestyle shift!

And I thank you for commenting, thats how we learn and that why I keep painting. There is always something I hav'nt tried yet, always something to learn from someone, it makes the world go round, and life interesting,
I am thinking of doing some more clay based monoprinting this week, will share that soon...
