Bluebell woodland - WIP

I have always adored blue bells - the enchantment of seeing a field of them in bloom is one of the most beautiful sights in this world!
Celeste's stunning walk through the blue bells had me searching for a reference and I was given permission by Flickr photographer Avalgo.

It has been very difficult to photograph - the blues oversaturate
will prob add more glazes. Critiques appreciate

Re: Bluebell woodland - WIP

Ruth, you caught the sunlight perfectly and love the glorious bluebell color. Overall, I like the painting a great deal. One area that bothers me is the tree at the edge on the viewer's right. It is such a solid vertical form and in one sense is a good stop to keep the eye from going out. On the other hand, it vertically aligns with the frame. I'm not sure if that is good or bad but I would rather see a break between the tree and the edge of the canvas. The tree could even be slanted inward a bit to keep the movement inside. Just my thoughts, and hope you don't mind.

Re: Bluebell woodland - WIP

Thanks Linda and Ann, Excellent advice regarding the tree - I left it in to stop the eye being led out , but it does really need to be used to bring the eye back in - a bit of tree surgery coming up!!!!!

Nice, Ruth, very nice. One thing that might also help are some deeper glazes at the edges to aim the eye to the "path" your emphasizing.

Just lovely! I really like the shapes of the tree trunks and the details in the foreground.

Re: Bluebell woodland - WIP

I've fiddled with the photo and this is more like the painting - a bit darker

Oh yes, that's even better Ruth! Pulls the eye back into the scene much better.

Thanks Dreamz, Celeste , Lulu and Ann for your kind, encouraging comments.
I'll live with this for a little to decide where to to take it.
