"Country living"

This painting is of a little, old house about 1/2 mile down the road from where we live. Until just recently an old Hawaiian woman lived in this house, I think the termites finally won (notice the wooden plank on the left side of the house to brace it up). She still comes by daily to take care of her yard and animals. Every time I go by this place I admire it, the property has so much history and character. Yax

I like this painting because of the personal connections that the site has with you, Yax! It has a compostion that I find unusual and quirky; the zigzag of the path and then the line up of the trees and the distant building prevents you from going too deep in to the space. I always like this feature in paintings!! Do you have such red volcanic soil, it is amazing. Seems like you have to battle all the green in your landscape too! Once again it is a completely different set of sensations to some of the other locations. Thank you for posting this. Great story too!

Yax,
Great job!!!
I especially love the connection you give us to your subjects in your posts. I too really enjoy that part of painting. The subject, the day, the experience of painting on location is so important to the final effort of completion. That is what makes plein air work truely unique. Every painting I do produces a happy memory for me each time I look at it. That is so different from the studio experience. Part of our goal is to make the connection happen for others too, thus enhancing their experience as well.

When I go to Diane's website and look at the Kanapaha paintings, it brings back memories of that event and the joy and camraderie we shared as painters and as friends.
Love,
Linda

You are really getting the hang of this plein air stuff, Yax! It makes me feel like I was there.

the true test for me with a plein air is to squint my eyes at it and if the image bridges and allows for a sense of actually standing there then I know its working. A good one.

Others should try it if they haven't.

Yep...I can picture myself there. I can feel the sun on my shoulder. Intense colors. Good effort here Yax!!!
