Anyone using StumbleUpon?
I just ran across an interesting site called StumbleUpon and found an article on Doshdosh about it. Has anyone joined this social networking resource as a way of advertising your art? If so, what kind of feedback can you provide concerning its usefulness for increasing blog traffic and sales?

Re: Anyone using StumbleUpon?
I don't know about its use for art, but I discovered StumbleUpon as a result of less helpful circumstances. I run the website for a small museum, and recently couldnt work out why Google had listed our museum's images under some peculiar unknown website title (that being stumbleupon).
It appeared that someone had written an article about the place, then had the nerve to link directly to our website images, without permission (my permission, that is) . Now, you might be forgiven for thinking "well, isn't that a useful thing to do? For publicity?" But this is how website owners suddenly start to exceed bandwidth and get their websites suspended.
So.......in terms of artist's websites, I suppose we could all "stumbleupon" each other's, and write a review; that then gets hits, and so on, and more hits, etc etc. But just have to watch out for people linking directly to your art images. I have no idea whether or not its a high-traffic site, like YouTube; its possible that it is. Maybe someone will come up with a way of "exploiting" it?

Re: Anyone using StumbleUpon?
Perhaps you know it already, and it does not answer your question, but StumbleUpon has been acquired by eBay a few days ago:

(uuuhhhh) is that a good or bad thing, I wonder. Did they recognise some potential, as we did? If so, that'll probably be the end of it.

Re: Anyone using StumbleUpon?
I get a lot of traffic and very rarely get any traffic from Stumbleupon.
I quite enjoy it though from time to time when I think I've been looking at the same websites forever!

Re: Anyone using StumbleUpon?
stumbleupon has become my favorite timewaster online - it's great for info finding, inspiration seeking, or just plain fun time. Not quite sure how many hits or traffic it brings to my site, but i do make a point of adding my newer work to my stumbleupon favorites, just in case.
of course, just like any other cool site out there, ebay had to go buy it, which in turn will most likely turn it into something less fun again. But for now, i enjoy using it.

Re: Anyone using StumbleUpon?
Stumble Upon has been on of the best kept secrets on the internet. By clicking on the previous link you can see my stumble upon page. I have gotten amazing traffic from this site. Keep in mind that these are not gallery owners seeing your site, but it does get the word out, and suprisingly well. I am a little worried that it has been too good to be true, internet, like life evoles around money, and SU is going to have to deal with this eventually. I have heard some rumors that they are going to create a myspace look to their site, I pray that they don't because it would be such a shame! For now I promote SU with all of my enthusiasm. It is definately worth a look.

Re: Anyone using StumbleUpon?
I joined last night and wasted an entire evening just "stumbling" around on the cool sites it connected me with. It beats old-fashioned surfing. I'm not sure yet whether I will create a page for myself, but I had a lot of fun!

Re: Anyone using StumbleUpon?
I love stumble, I have found some fantastic sites through it, and there is a huge community associated with it, although I just use the stumble bar to find new sites.
Since I stumbled my site a couple of months ago, I have seen a huge increase in my hits (and percentage bookmarked).
I am really disappointed to here that greedbay has bought stumble

I have a blog. Is it worthwhile to submit? Have you gained any sales?

Re: Anyone using StumbleUpon?
I found it in 2002 in my webstats and decided to see what it was all about. Not only does it consistently drive traffic to artist-at-large.com, I've actually made friends in the *real* world through my connections on SU.

Re: Anyone using StumbleUpon?
Hi,
I signed yesterday and deleted my account on that day.
I simply couldn't find how to post a website. Then I tried to review a post and after writing my opinion there were only two options which I guess were close / delete or something like that.
The I tried to contact the support and after submiting, was given two buttons under a list of FAQs. Asking if the list had solved my question. I hitted No and nothing happened.
So, I deleted the account.
Kind regards,
José
