Lovetree, being a "belt and suspenders" sort, I usually wrap the ends very tightly with wire
and glue the ends. When the glue's dry, I feed the end of the wire through the end cap and make a wrapped loop to secure. I find this works well. Also look back at post #40 in this thread for another method of ending. Also look at threads 79-80 for yet another idea. Finally, in thread #69, see how she's just doubled the ends back on themselves and wrapped them with a shiny thread? Depending on your design, that could work, too.
Also, what you need for bead kumihimo is something called Nymo:
