Re: Recent Pen & Wash Sketches

These are beautiful! I really enjoyed looking.

Can i ask you a question? Do you do the ink first then watercolor? And what kind of ink? My friend wants me to make a little book for her about their little kids and their goat and I have visualized it in ink and watercolor but have not really done any of that before.

Beautiful work Anita - somehow calling them "sketches" doesn't do them justice.

Re: Recent Pen & Wash Sketches

Thankyou Brian!

Thankyou Sue! I use a pigment liner pen, I have a few different ones but all of them are 0.1 nib thickness, waterproof and fade resistant. I always pen the sketch first, then add the watercolour washes...adding pen after a wash can broaden the linage due to the paper surface being broken and more absorbant, it could also bleed and hinder accuracy.
The little book sounds like a wonderful idea, I have been thinking along these lines myself recently. My suggestion would be to work on few practice sketches to get the feel of the media first...Good luck and I hope you will share your results with us.

Thankyou Doug! I guess some of the 'sketches' I produce would sit quite comfortably in a matt and frame I just have this habit of calling anything in pen that I have produced very quickly a 'sketch'.

Thankyou Marcia!

Thankyou Uschi!

That's exactly what I am hoping will happen Lamar...It's in there, I know it is...I shall just let it evolve.
