Search for the Inner Child

I posted in ab/con and mixed medium but not getting much response. I want to do a larger piece like this so would appreciate C&C. This is 4"x9" 140 lb paper watercolor, collage and acrylic medium.

I like the textures....not so sure about the composition

You might also post it in MIXED MEDIA......good input there!

Like the left and the right, but too much white in the middle in my opinion, and the white is fluffy, or undefined. Some white in smaller bits and pieces might be nicer. Need a COI that is coherent. I'm not an abstract expert, and this may well be a masterpiece, but I do know what I like. Love to see the finish and the colors are wonderfully compatible.

Ruth:
Nicely done with the mixture of textures and colors.

Ruth,

I think there are some really interesting areas of your work. I like the soft gray with the brown tones. If you do this again on a larger support, I would move the terrific circle segment away from the edge. It definitely draws the viewer's eye to it and then on out of the painting because it is so close to the edge.

Re: Search for the Inner Child

good advice given already - I agree about that white. It's too much and to samey and right in the middle, dominating the painting.

I like the natural colours and swirls and shapes and textures - a soft cream might work better with only a very little amount of white and a little more thought into what is going on in the middle - don't forget quiet areas to offset busy areas.

It has a lot of interesting things going on and potentially a really nice muted colour range - if you work through cool and warm neutrals and fix that too large white area it could be very good.

hope this is some help.

Have to agree with ^^^^ about the white - but great textures - looking forward to the larger piece.
