Snow Leopard WIP deja vu?

Hi everyone,
it seems this photograph by Crias is very popular as a subject and I have been wanting to paint it for sometime. I got inspired after reading Goewyn's WIP so I would like to thank her for this late nite lol. These photographs are un-retouched so far. The size is 9"x12" and its being painted in acrylics on canvas.

Re: Snow Leopard WIP deja vu?

Hi,
latest progress photograph. The colours used so far are graphite (airbrush), black (airbrush),payne's grey, and a mixed black to rough in the sketch. The shadows in the top and bottom center are from my portable easel as I photographed it outside this evening. Total time on this so far is 5 hours.

Lovely start, looking forward to seeing this develop. I'm not surprised it's a popular reference, it's a gorgeous photo.

Re: Snow Leopard WIP deja vu?

Hi everyone,
I am glad that some people are enjoying this painting even though its so close to Goewyn's lovely WIP rendition of Crias' photograph. Eilis I hate to break it to you, but, these are the close ups lol it's only 9x12". I can try to take some in macro on my camera tomorrow if its sunny out though. Here's the latest from last night.

Re: Snow Leopard WIP deja vu?

Hi,
here's the lastest photographs as of last night. The colours used to date are Background, (Payne's grey, mixed black) and the airbrush work, (graphite, black, permanent dark green, mixed beige, mixed pale yellow).

Here's the macro close up for Eilis. It doesn't show the final fur detail although I will post that when I add it in. Please note that you can see the texture in the canvas.

Re: Snow Leopard WIP deja vu?

Hi everyone,
here's the latest photograph as of last night. I have added a lot of detail on the rocks with some airbrushed black and built up more detail on the leopard's fur also using airbrushed black.
