Re: Sailing Home

Sunny,
Beautiful colors. And seeing that you are from Sonoma, and given the hills, I assume this is San Francisco Bay. You have really captured the sense of the area.

So what made it "such a trip" with the yupo?

Re: Sailing Home

Sunny,
Looks like you've taken to the wonderful properties of YUPO very well. This is nice and watery. Love the way you've done the waves in the water and the boat. I think the sky could have used a little more color to stand up with the rest of the painting, but that's just my HO.

Very nicely painted.

Sylvia

Re: Sailing Home

Thanks everyone for looking.
Jen, this is a photo from the RL and I think it was from Australia. And, the setting reminded me of Marin County view of the bay. Yupo is so different from paper and I love that you can just erase and start over with the images. I like to detail over & over
mmcaloon, thank you. The yupo is fun!
Sylvia, The photo sorta washed out the wash on the sky and I see what you mean.
Thanks for the kind comment.

Oh I love this!!!!

Great job Joann. Love the movement of the water. You did good. I'll bet you had fun lifting all those sails.

Thanks , Yorky. Didn't realize that I shouldn't post it on WC. Is it WC on paper only?

Re: Sailing Home

Sunny, yes, the Gallery is paper/watercolor and Plus is any support and/or things in addition to watercolor. A quick differientiation -- see the thread at the top of each for more detail.

I'm laughing at the source photo being probably Australian, but that it reminded you also of Marin confirms the "look alike." Clearly we live globally!

Looking again at your painting, I also really like the boat angle -- it gives tension, interest to the composition.

Re: Sailing Home

laudsen, I know it was a photo from Australia...must be yours. Didn't get the name of the reference photographer. Thanks so much for the inspiration! I love the photo. Thanks for the kind comments. Hope you are feeling better soon and can taste that old salt air again!

Jen, yes, we are so global. Marin/Australia!!
Wet Canvas has become so sophisticated since I last visited, I barely know how to act here. Thanks for the heads up about Yupo everyone.
Sylvia, I took your advice and changed the sky a bit...it was too washed out. I will photograph it again in a bit and post the change.
