WDE 3/30 Tennessee Theater in Dufy Style

Sorry to be late. I am trying to slide in before people show up with the paintings from this week.

I have loved the work of the French painter, Raoul Dufy (1877 - 1953), since I was a child. I made copies of a couple of his paintings for fun in the past, but this time I painted the Tennessee Theater in his style. I think I should have painted more loosely but I hope you can see his influence here and there.

The harsh shadows were too difficult for my ability. The building in the middle is looking like a cracker with something growing on it , but I couldn't make it better. I like the Edward Hopper-ish building on the far right though.

All my buildings look like crackers with something growing on them... That's why I photograph them...can't draw 'em worth a flip.

great job with this, though - I really like the awnings over the theater entrance and that far right building - great depth in those doorways!!

I like your choice of painter style. A really interesting and original and creative painting.
Love it.
