Andrew I am not sure about the clear and others will answer that question for you. I do want to warn you that you will need to check with the manufacturer. I know that with bike helmets you can void the warranty by painting on it and that then makes you responsible for someones safety. I would check before I start painting a bunch of helmets.

Thanks yea that's what I am worried about . The local hockey shop brings in helmets painted in Canada , if I could do a good job for them it would be a start .

Andrew, I haven't painted any hockey helmets but I did paint a welders helmet with Auto Air paints. It was cleared with urethane. I've painted a few motorcycle helmets also and cleared with urethane. I'm not familiar with 2 pack. I'm no professional or expert by any means but it's my understanding that you can clear Auto Air with about anything. Try it on a practice piece if you can first. Good luck. Here's the welders helmet. It was for a hockey fan friend.

Hi Andrew

If the helmet are fibreglass there should be no problems, if the helmet are made of the need injection mould plastic you will need to check them out. I suggeust that you get Graigs DVD on painting heelmet this will help you, painting on the curved surface is not easy.

Re: Anyone paint hockey helments?

i just did one.fiber glass.i used auto air.cleared with a rattle can clear coat.
i have done other helmets an had a profesional urethane clear coated.i have sprayed laquer clear coat on auto air.acrylic clear coat from krylon rattle can works on auto air.frog juice clear coat works with auto air.
i blow dry the helmet just before clearing.warm it up a bit.i do not sand or scuff the auto air.i mite litely wipe down with a wax an degreaser.if im sure i did not handle the helmet i will not wipe down.
i also pin striped with auto air.thats fun on a hockey helmet.

Noniron, from what I understand you can not paint the polycarbonate helmets, the fibreglass ones there is no problem with.
