'la rossa'

artists watercolors (winsor&newton: new gamboge, quinacridone red, brown madder, winsor blue red shade; m.graham: quinacridone rose; daniel smith: monte amiata natural sienna) plus golden acrylics (pyrrole red) on magnani's 'antica cartiera' 300 gsm paper, 70x100 cm (about 28x39").

Re: 'la rossa'

I really like the bold color in this...for some reason, as I've been looking at it, I keep wanting to see it in a vertical format (rotating short left side to top). Hope you understand what I mean by that. Not sure why and I could be totally wrong about it...Nice one.

thanks michele, what you say makes perfect sense as i've been trying to design my abstract pieces so that they work both in vertical and horizontal position. i haven't signed the paintings yet because who knows which way someone wants to frame and hang them in the future. i like to leave that decision completely open.

I like the vertical idea as well. It looks like an opening in the mountainside. Great color. Don't you love having your own forum?

Re: 'la rossa'

Is it the pyrrol red that is so eye-popping? This is really vibrant!!! You'll have to design a round signature... that way your clients can hang your work to their own preference!

thanks char! surprisingly it's the thin watercolor layer that appears most eye-popping here, the white paper shows through it. although golden's pyrrole red is one of the most chromatic acrylic paints it looks quite dark in this case because the layer is thicker than the watercolor. thanks for the sig idea but i've never been able to sell any paintings - if i do i'll sign according to the client's wishes for sure.

thank you very much for kind comments, becky and darla!

thanks, i'm so glad you can see this one. i've been planning this red one for some time you know.

btw i was going to ask if you ever managed to see the other threads but i forgot. the other image files were a little larger than this one, maybe that has something to do with the issues you had.
