Ahh, I can't decide! I keep jumping back and forth between Silver Seeds and Spring Rain. What a beautiful collection this week. All the participants really outdid themselves, each image is quite strong! Val

Re: Comp 98 -- VOTE HERE!
I like 6, 7, and 8 the best! #7 I really liked but after really looking at it the background just seems a little busy and seems to take away from the leaf. #8 is perfect, and I really like the colors in the drop! But #6 with the one simple daisy...I just really liked, I enjoyed the spring type uplifting colors in this photo. So I voted for #6, but what a very hard decision between these 3!
It's interesting to see what people came up with for Zen!
#3 is very interesting!

Re: Comp 98 -- VOTE HERE!
Great photos.
I was joggling a long time between the Silver seed and the Spring rain, but decided to go with the first. It is pure in its simplicity and quietness (is that a word?) and the subdued colors emphasize the effect.
The Spring rain is a gorgeous picture, but for zen-idea there is too much "action" there for my taste, the anticipation for the water drop about to fall...

Re: Comp 98 -- VOTE HERE!
OK, here we go.
1. Great idea, but I would like to see more of the object in focus and sharper. I like the composition and the colours.
2. Very clever. What detracts for me are the ripples. If you had taken the bird and the rock and superimposed it onto a beautiful still lake it would have been more Zen in my opinion. Perhaps with one well placed ripple.
3. Too busy, sorry, Without the chainlink fence it might have worked. I also don't like the fact it's upside down. I find this image quite edgy and unsettling. Great piece of artwork, but not Zen.
4. Too busy again. It's just not simple enough. It's also a bit dark for my taste and I'm not that keen on the crop.
5. Not sharp and the stone is slightly out of focus. Too busy, too many elements. The stone along on a plain or slightly textured background would have done it for me.
6. Too busy, but beautifully in focus. Congrats. Might have tried a slightly more panoramic crop.
7. Wow, great focusing and depth of field. The background ruins it though. I have to say, the "colours" in the black and white are superb.
8. Yup, love this one. Great colours, great focussing, sharp, and the angle that the leaf bisects the image is perfect. A winner. I must get a macro lens.
9. Too busy, and the image quality has been distorted. Perhaps a closed cropped image to the swan (if the resolution allows it) and the shadows increased to make the water almost black.
10. Mm, too busy again. Something isn't quite balanced right. Think the colours are a bit too washed out as well. Just not happening for me.

Re: Comp 98 -- VOTE HERE!
Beautiful photos...I had a really hard time deciding. Finally narrowed it down to "Silver Seeds" and "Spring Rain".
Silver Seeds - is a beautiful photo. It is a little soft.
Spring Rain - was the winner for me. Has the wow factor and I love how the drops are suspended. Quietly waiting.

Zen Proverb - When the pond is still, the reflection is clear. When the mind is still, the reflection of life is clear. Reflection brings Clarity.
My vote is for cleansing

Re: Comp 98 -- VOTE HERE!
OK... here goes.
#1. Silver Seeds - it's beautiful - I love this shot EXCEPT for the too shallow DOF... I so wish there'd been more in focus on this one.
#2. Solitary Communing. Ahh, once I figured out what I was looking at here, I found myself wishing that the water had been calmer... I know it's beyond the photographer's control
#3. Falling - I agree with Kallistos on this one - a bit too edgy.
#4. Walking in the Mist - even with knowing what the name of this photo is, it totally escaped me that there's someone "walking in the mist"... the rock and sky are so strong that the person gets lost. I do like it though.
#5. Zen Heart - this one was an "almost" in my book. I just liked it from the moment I saw it - but, unfortunately, it's just a bit too soft.
#6. One - I like this one too but the background is a bit busy. I agree with Kallistos (again) a more panoramic crop might have helped.
#7. Cleansing - WOW... A really nice shot, nice lighting, fantastic texture, great DOF but that background...
#8. Spring Rain - It has EVERYTHING going for it!!
#9. Reflection - I love this shot as well - only complaint is that the swan appears to be looking out of the picture. I would have much rather seen it positioned in the left third and looking into the photo.
#10. Dusk - I would have rather seen this without the ducks (?) - I can't put my finger on what's "wrong" but I'm thinking they look pixilated or something.... I do like how the water and sky seem to become one and I also like the pale colors, I find them soothing.

Way to go Sue, you almost skunked us all! And that would have been something because I don't think there was a loser in the bunch.
