Sleeping Innocence

This is a painting I did of my sister asleep, 16 x 20 on canvas.
Any comments or critiques are welcome.
Thanks,

Re: Sleeping Innocence

Nice work Nympheas! Your technique is interesting in that it is more along illustrative lines.I like the composition too... and the freshness of the colours.

Re: Sleeping Innocence

She's going to kill you! you could have at least used a little artistic license and colored her roots!!

You did a fantastic job, she looks a little pinkish but that may be my monitor

Re: Sleeping Innocence

thanks mrs willow and leslie - im glad its convincing
dreamz - she actually loves it, and doesnt mind the roots. i like to put in things like that, sometimes i idealize, sometimes i just like to put things in just as they are. and yes she is kind of pinkish, even in the original, just cus of the way the lighting in my room was hitting her. next time i think i'll try for more yellow though.

Re: Sleeping Innocence

lovely looking sister! beautifully done, I especially like the way you've done the hair, fabric and hand. Not surprised she likes it, it's superb.

Re: Sleeping Innocence

Absolutely beautiful...I love the colouring you used on her lips, the whole thing has a delicate and loved feel about it.

Did you paint it from life or a photograph?

Re: Sleeping Innocence

Thank you objectivist and Nitsa
I painted this from a photograph - my sister adores being in front of the camera, so it didn't take much convincing to get her to do an entire photo shoot for me hahhaa.
now she wants an entire series of herself lol.
