Decorative Painting Workshops in Chadds Ford, PA

Hi All!

I want to let you know that there are several decorative painting workshops/classes taking place in Chadds Ford, PA as part of the Decorative Painting Apprenticeship Program. The classes are taking place on actual walls, columns, ceilings, etc. You'll learn on sample boards first and then do the techniques on the surfaces of a church in Chadds Ford (St. Cornelius Church). Chadds Ford, PA is located about 35 miles southwest of Philadelphia and is very close to the border of Delaware. This is a great way to have fun, meet friends, learn a new skill and do something great for the community!

Teacher list includes: Cait Whitson, Annie LeMarie, Marlow DeMars, Hakan Engstrom, Tania Seabock, Kim Senior, Mike MacNeil, Dean Sickler, Bernie Forese, Campbell Peterson and Brita DeMars.

Techniques include marbling, wood graining, gilding, architectural trompe l'oeil, lime venetian plaster, synthetic venetian plaster with embedded gold leaf, murals, stenciling, canvas installation (painted and unpainted), mosaic ceiling embellishments, sky painting and more!

Check out the website at http://dpap.decoartisans.com. Contact me for more info.

Thank you!

There are some belted galloways (cows) near St. Cornealius (about 5 miles or so), just outside of Greenville, DE.

Would be great for some photo shoots.

Oops. Make that Centerville, DE. Just east on Center Meeting road off of Hwy 52. Too many "ville"s around here.

LOL! You're right, though! Lots of 'ville' roads.

Chadds Ford is also "Wyeth Country" with the Andrew Wyeth museum located here (The Brandywine River Museum http://www.brandywinemuseum.org/). The museum also has tours of Kuerner Farm where, for more than 70 years, that farm has been a major source of inspiration to Andrew Wyeth. Since his earliest painting of the farm in 1932 at the age of 15, Wyeth has found subjects in its people, animals, buildings and landscapes for nearly 1,000 works of art.

The area is rich in history, too. The Brandywine Battlefield is located in Chadds Ford as well. The Brandywine Battlefield was the largest single day battle of the American War for Independence. The Battle took place on September 11, 1777.

I'm full of fun facts today!

BTW, there is a one lane covered bridge between the church and the galloways. Very picturesque also.
