while awaiting the water class, I started some more rocks...
size 14x10
I wonder wonder whether the rocks are believable.
I will post the ref as well, the water and the vegetation will have to wait for more experimenting.

Frieda - I think they definitely look believeable. They look like rocks. Don't be afraid to punch up the contrast. The rocks in the foreground have strong shadows. If you push your darks, they will just pop right off the page.

I've done a little work on rocks assignment 2. My reference is from the top right corner of a lovely photograph of daffodils and rocks posted in the image library by Dublinah.

There are no dumb questions! A mechanical pencil is one with thin leads that are pushed out through the pencil's tip by some sort of internal mechanism. Here is a picture of one:
