faux and trompe l'oeil

This is in a master bedroom. I sponged on several shades of copper acrylic craft paint, then I'm using acrylics for the fancy trim. 99" high x 96" wide.

Re: faux and trompe l'oeil

They really need a smiley face on here that is wide-eyed... staring blankly, with a dropped jaw. You know - one that is totally impressed, looking at stunning work.

Incredible Ruth. Thanks for sharing.

Re: faux and trompe l'oeil

Thank you! The pictures show about 10 hours' work. I put in another 5 hours yesterday to finish. The acanthus leaf scroll work goes all the way down each side, and there are little round medallions where the lines cross. Of course, I forgot my camera but I will get final photo once they push the bed back against the wall. The client wanted to help, so she did some of the sponging and said she would paint some of the lines after I left for the day. She painted a couple of them, and said she had to quit because her arm hurt! And she's much younger than I am. I guess I've learned to push on despite the pain, but ohboy I was tired and sore. I've had a couple of months off, and got out of shape for ladder work!

I want to be Ruth when I grow up!

Ruth, what color(s) did you use to create the darkest, shadowy areas? Is it copper and black or something like that?
