Merry Christmas everyone....have a blessed day.
We are going to my daughter's house later today, they started an addition on their house and even though the flooring is not in we are having a big family dinner there.

Re: Weekly Scumble Dec 25 Thru 31
Merry Christmas everyone!
Here I am sitting at the computer...gifts still unopened under the tree. My wife and son have come down with the stomach flu, so far I have been spared.
As I sit here, I realize that I already have all the gifts I need. They've been with me this past year - and that's my family, my health, my job, and all the wonderful friendships that I have made here in WetCanvas.
I'm hoping you all have a blessed holiday season, and a very Happy New Year - a new year that will bring new friendships for you to enjoy!

Re: Weekly Scumble Dec 25 Thru 31
Merry Christmas everyone.
Piper - that sounds like a lot of fun to have dinner in a room that is a work in progress. Hope all is going well with your job and health.. Hey, tell Stan I got the Logan 50 buck mat cutter and I did alright with it. Undercut a few corners, but I'm learning. I've also realized that there is alot of mat left over when you frame a piece that is 11x14, so I've decided to put my acrylics to use when i frame the next piece. I'll cut it out and before cutting the inner edge I will paint the mat the color I need it to be, let it dry and then cut the inner cuts so that the white shows at the cut. Not sure if anyone else has tried that, just seems a waste to have so much mat board around...
Dave - I know what you mean about having the things that matter and having WC is a great gift to have too. I tell all my art friends about it and they don't realize at all the wealth of support and info available thru all the good hearts posting here...I'm lucky.

Christmas blessings to all of you!
I agree. I'm blessed with health and wealth--a wealth of family, friends and loved ones, and this place is certainly among them...
David, take care!
We opened our gifts last night and this morning we'll be singing some worship songs and sharing the gifts that God has given us this year with one another, then the big family dinner at mom's house (which is only 5 people--the perfect size for me). But the best news is that the cold that was just terrible on Friday and looked to keep me from doing anything has almost miraculously dried up completely!
Peace...
Deborah

Re: Weekly Scumble Dec 25 Thru 31
Hi,
Hope you folks are enjoying this Christmas season.
Here in Portugal the traditional dishes for the Christmas supper (which traditionally should take place at midnight but I guess very few people do that) are : codfish with tatoes and cabage; octopuss with tatoes and greens; and turkey.
This Xmas I got some ŤClaybord black and a toolkitť.
I tried something and in case you want to take a brief look :

Keep enjoying the rest of the day and don't forget that we got another hollyday next Monday :-)
Kind regards,
José

Re: Weekly Scumble Dec 25 Thru 31
MERRY CHRISTMAS, EVERYONE!!
I don't post very often, although I try to keep up with everyone. My kitchen is all torn up with the remodel but I managed to make a turkey with all the trimmings. That was no small fete since everything is in boxes all over the livingroom and hubby had to hook up the stove so I could cook. In a few days the countertops will be torn out, then I'm thinking of cold sandwiches.
Santa brought 4 color theory books. Now I have to decide which one to read first. I feel blessed too. I have a wonderful husband and family, and I am so fortunate to be a part of the Wet Canvas family. Thank you all, I have learned so much here.

Re: Weekly Scumble Dec 25 Thru 31
We had a wonderful day yesterday, I guess we sort of celebrated Christmas before you guys !!! I will send you some pics of what it was like here in Wextern Australia for Christmas as soon as I have my card reader organised.
Gwen, When you have had a good look and read of your Colour Theory books, please let us know what they are and by whom and which ones you think are the best and hopefully the easiest to understand and follow.
I will write again later on today.
Take Care
Love CJ

Re: Weekly Scumble Dec 25 Thru 31
Oh Gwen, I can impathise. We have been remodeling too! But I am happy to report, we are done!!!! Except for moving back in, putting things away, and cleaning up where we have been staying. What a relief. But I guess I got a new house for Christmas. My hubby is a love.
Had dinner at my sister's today. THAT GIRL CAN COOK! She did a pork loin, stuffed with garlic, apricots, and cranberries. It was rubbed with rosemary and served with a port wine pan sauce. More than yummy.
She loved her gift, which all of you will be seeing soon. I painted a portrait of my horse, Smoke, for her. We bought him from her about 8 years ago, and she misses him. She has mentioned more than once that she wished she had held onto him. Course, back in July, when he dumped me, I was wishing she had, too!
Ouch! No, I love the hard headed animal, so the painting was done with special feeling. She cried, I cried, couldn't get any better than that!

Re: Weekly Scumble Dec 25 Thru 31
happy holidays! its been great, my folks are up, no worries iwth the MIL, and today after a turkey with the works, we harnessed up the clydesdale team for about an hour's ride. it was perfect, ending right when the sun was going down and the sky was hot pink/orange, with all the snow glowing with color. to top that off, the missouri river was pink too, with the sunset glowing on the ice! of course, no camera?!!! argh! the only un-perfect part of the day, hahah! was so fun. now we're full as ticks, sleepy and happy!
my kids loved the gifts we picked up for them, and i received a few nice things myself!
just has been a great holiday, and a really nice break from our normal life! take care all, get rid of that flu, don't eat too much, and have a great time!

Re: Weekly Scumble Dec 25 Thru 31
My Christmas was lovely. I had an early Christmas eve dinner at my son's in-laws home, a very lovely couple originally from Taiwan. All their family is still in Taiwan so their local nuclear family is very small - just the parents and their two girls, and now my son and me. :-) So it's nice to be with them, and she is a wonderful cook. A mostly seafood meal with enormous shrimp, and scallops, smoked salmon, steamed clams, veggies, tofu. Their family tradition is to open gifts on Chrismas eve before they go to midnight mass - but they opened them a bit early for me since I had to leave by 6:45 to get to choir to rehearse for the 8 PM lessons and carols service. I got some nice fuzzy moccasins from LL Bean, and some pillow covers. My DiL's sister gave me a set of 30 half-stick Rembrandts and a pad of Canson paper. Nice girl.
Then I had Christmas brunch at my house. My son and his wife and her parents came, and my sister and her husband and two kids. I served three kinds of quiches, a ham, bacon, brandied fruit cake, roasted asparagus, ambrosia, clementines, hot mulled apple cider, orange juice, coffee, tea - and later banana cake, pumpkin pie and apple pie!
We opened gifts at my house in-between brunch and dessert so had even more fun with that. My sister gave me a complete set of *watercolors* . Paints, brushes, papers, easel, mixing palette - an "all-in-one" package. And I don't even like watercolors.
But as has been said, we are all together and have out health. These are the true blessings in life. I have the rest of the week off, and it's fun to just relax today.

Yes, I'll let everyone know what I think about the color theory books. It may be a while though. Hubby is just about ready to tear up the master bath. We've done our part of the kitchen and now have to wait for the workman to finish installing everything. I thought we'd get a break but it doesn't look like it. It will be so nice when everything is finished.
