Sketchcrawl: Long Island, Nova Scotia 11.12.06

Hello.
I hope you enjoy this tour through my day. All the sketches were in my moleskine, with a mechanical pencil.

This is how the day began:

Early morning cartoons.

Breakfast

And laundry. (Sorry for the wonky perspective )

I enjoyed a cup of coffee while I painted this.

All sketches were done quite quickly, about 5 - 7 minutes each, since I had my 2 1/2 yr. old with me, who won't stand the car being still for any longer, despite many forms of bribery. It was a drizzly day, as well, so they were all done from the car.

One more:

Happy holidays!

Wow, that's quite a day and so many sketches! Amazing feat considering you were bringing a toddler around. I especially like your wreath, you look like you were in "the zone" by then. And I like Peter's Island.

thanks for looking, wabbitt... as for being quite a feat, it wasn't bad - it's a very small island (about 10 miles long x 1 mile wide). We went for two 1-hr drives during the day.

(edit: just had a chance to see your Sketchcrawl, wabbitt: toddlers, mothers... about the same, eh? mine had a bit of a nap after, too )

Monica, you got so much done, and some plein air sketches too. Wow! 'Must have been chilly up there. I'm such a color junkie, so my favorites are the color sketches. Love the wreath. I'm envious that you have those ocean and lighthouse views so nearby! And boats make such wonderfully challenging subjects. That perspective sketch with the laundry was a real challenge too.

I was hoping to do my sketchcrawl today, but my daughter ended up being home sick from school, so I'll have to try for a different day instead.

Re: Sketchcrawl: Long Island, Nova Scotia 11.12.06

Looks like you had a nice day. I took two teen neighbors with me the first time. Decided I would go alone and stay in the car now. Even when the weather is good. I can keep my supplies in the passenger seat and have them spread out. And I don't have to pay for lunch. lol

I really like the way you got all the tower details in. And the ornament is very nice. Also like the boats and sea scenes. Don't have any of those here.
