Timneh African Grey Parrot
Another Parrot drawing done- This is for my TOUGHEST customer/Critic- ME!
This is Marlow, My 8 month old Timneh African Grey Parrot-
Not the best scan, but it's fairly close!
It is about 7" x 7", Graphite on Bristol smooth.
Of course, as always, C&C welcome!!

Beautiful drawing Andrew.
How long do these birds live?
What do you do with it when you are at sea?

Re: Timneh African Grey Parrot
Thanks, Carol.
She should live 60 or so years, if well cared for... Probably outlive me! She is a chatterbox, LOVES talk! We just have to be careful becuase she will repeat almost anything that her people say!
My girlfriend takes care of her- And the other 2 parrots- when I am out of town. We have a regular zoo

Andrew
I think this is a great drawing of Marlow, In particular the feathering around the head and the neck area.
My wife's Quaker parrot often sits on my shoulder as I do my drawings, constantly asking 'what ya doing'

Re: Timneh African Grey Parrot
A big one from Andrew. I have been learning however that the darkest darks should be on your bird, and the rest should be down the value scale a bit. I do think that will pull your bird up front. I have found that it really works, kind of like putting atmosphere into a painting.

I like this little guy
I've always wanted one....but the idea of 60 years.....Man....I'd be 100 years old I know it would outlive me by a longshot

Re: Timneh African Grey Parrot
Thanks, everyone!!
They are a great subject to draw in Graphite, because that is their natural coloring She DOES have a touch of red here and there, but they are pretty much grey.
Really fun critters to live with, too! Keep you on your toes

-Abdrew, you might, as you say in your profile 'do too much'. but I still have to find somethign you don't do well. Great drawing and interesting details.
