Three kittens in pastel WIP

Hi
I've been working on a pastel of 3 kittens from the rescue centre.
The kitten on the rights face seems wrong and Im' really not sure about a background yet.
I was hoping to try and save it so any advice would be great as I think i've been looking at it too long trying to figure out if I should start again, perhaps on a different tone of paper. Anyways heres is the reference photo and my progress so far.

Re: Three kittens in pastel WIP

That one pose would make a brill image on its own but with all three, this is great.
May be some tweaking is needed here and there but that’s all.

Things I would do on tweaking.
Add some white fur under the 3rd cats chin (not on the chin) to give a bit of contrast and take away the white under the ginger part under the furthest eye.
The centre kitten (seems she smiling) needs to be in more shadow. This will add more attention to the other two

Painting the best from colours.

Re: Three kittens in pastel WIP

These kittens are just way too cute. All I can see about the kitten on the right, our right, correct..is maybe the head is to large, but then maybe this kitten is older then the other too also.
What type of paper did you use and what size is it.
I think unless you have pastel smudges on the paper (I tend to do that a lot) that you can leave the background, it really suits the kittens.
very nice job

Re: Three kittens in pastel WIP

Thanks i will go back and see what I can do with the head. Amazingly I didn't get smudges on the paper for a change =)
The Kittens were really good models and so cute I wanted to take then home!I took about 200 photos that day and think I spent a third of the time at the kittens =)

don't get me wrong, I do not think you need to do anything with the head...he is just an older kitten.....

I've been working on a watercolour while having a break from it and Gary i see what you mean about tweaking it.. that kitten in the back does look like it's smiling lol. Thanks for the good advice. I'm going to go back to it now and i'll post later
Also I thought I'd add the watercolour too.. it's not finished but I couldnt resist painting it.

I love them both, I'm not a cat person but these are adorable. Only minor tweaking needed.

Re: Three kittens in pastel WIP

these are adorable, and you've rendered the white fur quite well. i like the background as it is... but that may be because i myself am usually too scared to attempt one.
