Re: November challenges.. get busy LOL

Well let me start you off for once. I put a lil color in this guys cheeks. I didn't do a sketch first just painted. I used to watch Helen Van Wyck paint on tv and do portraits with no sketch to start with. She was so good at it. Anyway....heres my effort done in Painter with mostly artist oils. First thing I've painted in any medium for a while.

WOW now this is Fantastic!! Love everything about it especially the brush strokes!
Helen Van Wyck ..... is one of the people/shows that got me started painting I just loved her work the one thing that stayed in my mind all these years was the "make it then break it then make it again also the darks darker and lights lighter" an amazing artists!

Jean, extraordinary refs!... Hope to try one... or two.

Sherry, splendiferous portrait! Helen is one of my favorites too. She's such a natural.

Thanks so much Jean... great pics!

Your portrait is very nicely done Sherry!!

Spent some time practicing the Painter sutton brushes once again... very quickly done, and now that it's posted, sure wish I had spent more time on that fence!

I'd love to try the old man. He looks like he could be a fisherman?

Bree I love the setting you put that cardinal in and you seem to have gotten the reins on those brushes and hey the fence looks fine!

Jump right in tesz it is open to all painters! BTW I thought of a fisherman when I looked at the ref pic too.
