varnish for acrylic?

Hi...
I painted a portrait in acrylics when I usually use oil. I want to ad a varnish to it but don't know what is allowed. Can I use a dammar or other oil-appropriate varnish or will it hurt the acrylics?
Thanks for any feedback!
Tori

Re: varnish for acrylic?

This is a popular question lately. From Golden:

Liquitex:

There are varnishes that will work with both oils and arcylics, such as Golden's MSA, but damar varnishes are not intended for acrylics, mainly as they would be reversible by using solvents that would damage the paint.
