I have read three pages now....find it all incredibly confusing.
The more that is posted, the more confusing it gets.

If you could just please just specify exactly what KB you want my jpeg at or under...it will be.

exactly what I use!!!! You can change compression to medium/change image size to 800 or 600 on the longest size and immediately check to see the kb usage!!!

I realize this is an old thread but I'm baffled by it. I thought we were just supposed to worry about keeping photos under 600 or 700 x 600 or 700 (whichever one it is for this site--I get them confused). I use Photobucket and it doesn't say a word about compression--only the pixels. Is this something I still need to be worrying about? When I right click on one of my photos posted on Wet Canvas it says 694x528 pixels and 270,020 bytes, nothing about K. Is this too large?
Apologies to those of you who are computer literate, but I don't know anything about this stuff.

"K" means kilo, which is the greek(?) word for thousand. Like a kilo flour means "1000 grams", a kb means (approx.) 1000 bytes.
(No, I won't go and make things worse by explaining binary system and 1024 B = 1 kB!)
