Use to denote nudity/mature subject matter female figure study (nude back view)

painted almost completely in painter, with a little finishing in photoshop, (only because Im new to painter and couldnt do what i needed so reverted to Photoshop to get it finished.) the figure was a life study, drawn in about 3 hours, not including breaks. I finished the painting in about 6 hours without the model present.

and for once I have a background!!

all critiques welcome

steve

Very impressive! I haven't really used photoshop or a computer at all for making much art. It is amasing what can be done. Have you thought about posting this in The Figure forums? You have done an amazing job!

Peace

Oh Wow! If you can do this with one of those computer thingys, what would you accomplish with a real brush and real paint !

Superb!

Re: female figure study (nude back view)

cheers guys... sadly I dont work with real brushes much anymore... the demands of a commercial artist and all that.

on the computer thing, its actually easier than painting for real in as much as if I make a mistake i can undo it, if I dont like a colour I can dry the layer and paint over the top without waiting... basically you need the same skills but its much faster and the software these days is a dodle to use .

I do the basic sketches on paper and acan them in usually.. but this one was all done in the computer.

huh!
So are you saying that the initial drawing was not done on paper, but digitally as well?
there's something to be said for developing these technical skills!

What are you going to do with the finished pic/painting?

Mac

Re: female figure study (nude back view)

forgot to answer the question...

yes the sketch for this one was done in the computer.. I usually sketch a line drawing then scan it in to paint it, but this was completely done in the computer via a graphics tablet... if you havnt used one they map your pen movements 1:1 on the screen and allow for pen pressure to adjust the stroke depth size etc, so its exactly like drawing with a pencil or any other medium you choose to use... if you have a good peice of software to go with it.
