Please check out my new website!

Just 'launching' my new website today. My husband (thank goodness for handy husbands!) helped set it up.

I'm a 'guest artist' at a weekend gallery tomorrow and have 1 day of showing a month over the next three months so I thought it would be useful try and get more profile by leaving calling cards with the website advertised.

www.artbyclo.com

It would be really helpful if you'd have a look and comment on it for me - on anything (spelling/speed of loading/paintings - anything).

One particular question is regarding the Artist's Statement - I'm having difficulty categorising or describing my art - if you have any thoughts I would LOVE to hear them.

p.s - also posted this in the business area of the site- but with slightly different questions.

Thanks

Re: Please check out my new website!

Your work is beautiful and your web site very well done - simple, direct and shows off your work. Your statement says it all and reads well IMHO.

There are 2 things you might want to change. The last sentence of the first paragraph needs another
to either make it a separate paragraph or take away the
to bring it up into the 1st paragraph.

The 4th paragraph - the sentence "The palette knife allowing......" is not a complete sentence. I suggest "The palette knife allows......"

I love Skerries. What a beautiful and inspirational village! I have eaten at "The Stoop" (Ah for a bowl of their chowder with a thick slice of Irish bread) and I have also painted a couple of watercolors of the harbor.

I enjoyed looking at your website. Pat's suggestions about your artist statement are good. I dislike writting artists statements, but you did a good one. I also need to get a website together...congrats on your show!

Question Re: Please check out my new website!

Very nice work, Clo. I am especially fond of the Red and White series. What is the title of the red work on the index page? The index page label says "In her Stride" but the gallery page says "Ascent" with "in her stride" as the title of another piece.

Either way, I like the ascending dots painting. It and "Shadows" are my favorites. Keep up the good work.

Re: Please check out my new website!

Thanks Pat and Gingery, I'll apply those tips. From Alaska to Skerries! Skerries gets my vote too!

Gingery, there's an excellent thread (somewhere!) about writing an artists' statement on this site which set me in a direction. Still could do with plenty more thought but had to get the site out there!

Well noted Callmesammy - I've just changed the title - amazing how many smal things can be easily overlooked. Glad you liked 'Shadows' - I like it a lot but given it's so minimal didn't think many others would (what impeccable taste you have .

Sincere thanks for the input!

Re: Please check out my new website!

Yes, I read that, as well as lots of other advice on writting artist statements. Seems the ones that I really identify with, should have been the one that I wrote for myself. I'd prefer the art speak for itself.
