Gouache-tober: Daily(ish) Minipaintings!

Instead of Inktober, I'm trying to do one small gouache painting per day (or so). I've wanted to try it ever since I saw some neat work by Griz and Norm over on Tumblr, so these are my first attempts.

Everything is Halloween themed because of course it is.

First up (from yesterday) is a witch hat:

Today's painting was candy corn:

Absolutely wonderful!! I love the glossiness of the candy corn, and the splatter on the witches' hat is great!

We have space in the Miniature Forum for Gouache paintings (a great place to cross-post!)

Re: Gouache-tober: Daily(ish) Minipaintings!

Thanks for the suggestion, Margarete--I might do that once I've collected a few more together.

Oh, also a note about the paintings. They're pretty small! I paint them on 4x6" but the edges so far have been taped 3/4" all round, so they're about 2x4.5 or so.

Today, I tried a broom. It totally counts because witches. I feel like I overworked it, so I'm less happy with it, but good practice anyway:

Today--a jar of eyeballs. Yum.

I feel like I'm getting worse as this goes on...but I like the muted palette. Rushed a bit today, I have homework to finish for tomorrow morning!

An excellent way to get used to a new medium and it certainly looks as though it works.
