Blooming, your drawing is beautiful! Very nicely executed.

Jeanne, your shading is looking great on those boots. This one is goingt to be a very good one from you.

kswistak, beautiful rendition coming along there also.

I've been a little busy with my 102 class 6 portrait and some painting but hope to work on this today, Judi.

Oh Tyree, just in time to see your's! Fantastic work!

Re: Weekly Drawing Thread July 31st-August 6th

Hi all-this would be my first post to wc. I am really new to graphite/charcoal and I am having alot of fun with it . Most of what I have done is in cp. I fell in love with this picture when I found it in the RL and actually started it last week. Progress is soooooooo slow/time is so limited right now. It is about 8x10 on Bistol Vellum. Anyway-thanks for the great thread. Kathy

Re: Weekly Drawing Thread July 31st-August 6th

Thanks everyone for the comments.

Mary, I still can't figure out why I can't do the same on faces. I can do shoes, wood, etc but when I do faces they seem to be more like line drawings. Maybe it is because I started out oil painting from traced pictures on canvas. I never did faces then. Started drawing for the convenience of it and less cleanup.

Kathyann you are new to graphite/charcoal? I won't be able to draw like this even after 10 years learning! Outstanding, it looks like a real photo.

I started to do this in pen and will probably add a watercolor wash in the end.

Tyree: Nice work.
Kathyann: Yours makes me sigh. Your patient technique and work with cp really shines through on this drawing! Welcome to WC!
Judi: Pen and ink will always be my favorite medium, and I am always thrilled when I see it used. Marvelous choice for this subject. Well done.

Re: Weekly Drawing Thread July 31st-August 6th

Great Boots everyone!
It's so inspiring seeing how everyone does a slightly different version of the reference pic. At the beginning of each week I look at the new reference pic, and think "Oh god now what am I gonna do with this!"
Then after a couple of days I see the beginnings of everyone elses drawings and I can't wait to start! This thread is a brilliant idea - Thanks so much for letting me be a part of it!
