R.f.d.

Hi all,

Haven't posted here before--mostly I'm an oil painter--but here's a recent work with technical pen...adapted from a picture in a book...just wanted somebody to see it.

Cheers.

This is really nice. I love the way you have used negative space to draw the leaves. Well done.

Thumbs up

EXCELLENT ink work here Gary!!! What size pens and type of paper did you render this on?? This drawing looks VERY familiar. I have seen it before but just can't place it right now. You did a wonderful job with such a complicated background like those leaves. You say you mostly paint, but I think you definately have what it takes to do more inks. Hope to see more of your art in this forum. Thanks for posting

It's adapted from a drawing by Claudia Nice--it's in one of her books...can't remember which one offhand. I used technical pens sizes 1 to 4.

Thanks for the welcome.

I keep staring at all that detail work - WOW - this must have taken forever to do. But what amazes me most about this type of work is all the planning that must have gone into it.

Welcome to this forum, I love your ink work - looking forward to seeing more of it.

Yeah, it was a lot of detail...took about 8-10 hours, I think. Did it on a coarse paper with a "woody" look to it...bought it on sale at my art dealer.

Glad you like it.

cheers

LOL I know that row of boxes! Naw, just kidding, but there is a row that looks very much like it about a mile up the road from me. The lilac bush grows up around the boxes, and they have to keep them trimmed back all the time. A few carriers have been stung by bees while delivering mail.

This is very nice. The detail is amazing. I was going to ask how long it took, but I see you said 8-10 hours. Wow, It would have taken me a week.

Very nice! The boxes seemed to pop out at the viewer. Great effect!
