Question Building up a face to paint

Hello everyone! Got a question to ask. I'm want some pointers on how to build up faces on T-shirt. I do some cartooning for my daughter and my wife likes me to sketch out faces out of the news papers. I have a picture I would like to post. But having trouble uploading it on the forum. So any type of lesson or drills would be appreciated.

Thank Glen for the info. I went out and got a copy of Radu's book and came home to your reply. I will use that and anyone else hints. So you and I are on the same mission, so good luck and keep up posted.
